Continuing the theme of responsibility ...
How do you treat people?
Something within your control, right?
How well can you control yourself when riled?
Easy to be nice to people when they're nice to you, right?
What about when they are downright nasty? Maybe even vindictive.
I view it as a character test.
Will I stoop down to their level, or can I maintain my integrity?
Continue to be just.
In my experience, they usually come round.
They'll respect you, even if they never show it.
But more importantly, even if they never do,
you can look in the mirror and hold your head high.
Do the right thing.
"Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave iti to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." ~ Romans 12.19-21
