Why do we treat ourselves worse than we would treat our friends?
Give yourself the same advice as you would a good friend.
Not only give it, take it.
Don't wait to treat yourself well.
You deserve it now.
Your deservedness should not depend on unattainably high standards that you wouldn't dream of giving to someone else.
It doesn't mean lower your standards.
But be somewhat realistic, kind and avoid the dreaded disease of perfectionism.
Easier said than done, that's for sure.
Maybe you have to set goals towards it like anything else.
Tangible goals of treating yourself better.
Positive self-talk.
Time set aside to do nothing but breathe, meditate and enjoy the fresh air and freedom that surrounds you.
And let's not confuse it with being self-indulgent.
It's treating yourself well by doing what's best for you.
What's really best for you.
The long-term gains over the short-term gains.
Gains that encompass not just one area of your life, but multiple.
The holistic approach which western medicine likes to ignore.
Prends soin de toi.
Mais vraiment, quoi.
