Radical Self-Honesty

1 min read

How honest are you with yourself?

How often do you shine a light on the pain or other emotions that you feel?

Do you pay them any attention, or do you simply push them away, dull them with drugs, and project them onto others?

Here's an idea.

Next time you feel an emotion, examine it.

This means examining yourself.

Your motives.

Your heart.

You.

Confronting but illuminating.

Perhaps unpleasant.

But don't be scared to be honest.

Face your demons.

They don't like it when you do that.

They like to enshrine you in a cloud of darkness, guilt and shame.

But guess what?

There's no shame in not being perfect.

But there is great power in having the courage to practise radical self-honesty.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? ~ Jeremiah 17.8

None is righteous, no, not one ~ Romans 10.3

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ~ 1 John 1.8
