Today's blog post is curious.
I struggled for inspiration all day.
Then as soon as I created this github file and started writing, Steven Pressfield's voice began booming in my head.
(I've listened to his voice on audible. It really does boom.)
I couldn't even discern what it was I was attempting to recall, but on further investigation and with the aid of duckduckgo, my memory was sufficiently stoked and I found the point:
The difference between an amateur and a professional is in their habits. An amateur has amateur habits. A professional has professional habits. We can never free ourselves from habit. But we can replace bad habits with good ones.
Professionals show up and they do the work. They tackle the resistance in their head every day.
To further demonstrate this point:
“Someone once asked Somerset Maugham if he wrote on a schedule or only when struck by inspiration. ‘I write only when inspiration strikes," he replied. ‘Fortunately it strikes every morning at nine sharp.’
That’s a pro.”
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. Read it. Listen to it. If only for his booming voice to periodically inhabit your conscious thoughts and remind you to...
SHOW UP AND DO THE WORK.
